NEW BRICKELL LANDMARK
– DESIGNED BY NBWW –
REACHES SUMMIT

CORAL GABLES, FL (Jan. 2009) – Brickell Avenue’s soaring new landmark - 1450 Brickell - a 35-story tower designed by the award winning Miami-based architectural firm, Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe and Associates (NBWW), and developed by the Rilea Group celebrated the completion of the tower’s 35th floor at a topping off ceremony held on Friday, January 30th.

Located on the northwest corner of Brickell Avenue and Broadway (SE 15th Rd.) above the heart of the Brickell Business district, the dazzling mixed-use, Class A corporate tower, when completed in January 2010, will take on an almost crystalline, sculptural quality. The all-glass building, cut like the facets of a diamond, will boast sleek inward and outward sloped surfaces that reflect light and can be seen from all directions. It will also enjoy another unique feature for Brickell Avenue towers - unobstructed downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay views.

“1450 BRICKELL has an excellent location in the financial district, where nearly every side of the building can be viewed from a far distance,” said Bruce Brosch, NBWW Partner and the lead architect on the project. “This was an exciting project for us to undertake and we were honored that Alan Ojeda selected us to bring his bold new vision for the Miami skyline to life.”

Leed Certified, the tower is pre-certified “Gold” and meets the standards for environmentally sustainable construction. 1450 BRICKELL will feature over 540,000 square feet of office space, five levels of double-height, loft-style office suites, more than 10,500 square feet of retail space, and is being built by Miami-based Coastal Construction Group www.coastalconstruction.com one of Florida’s leading construction companies with a focus on hospitality, commercial, industrial and academic projects.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the Coastal team on this spectacular building,” says Brosch. “Coastal’s team, headed by Jeff Lee and Mike Yahraus and their crew are to be commended for their efforts in reaching this milestone on time and on budget.”

MIMO DESIGN

CORAL GABLES, FL (Oct. 08, 2008) – When the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc hotels open this fall after several years and billions of dollars in renovations, they will have more in common than their South Beach addresses and Miami Modernist (MiMo) style. All have been redesigned for the 21st century by the noted Coral Gables-based architectural firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe and Associates (NBWW) whose inspiration came from the legendary architect, Morris Lapidus.

NBWW continues to create South Florida’s architectural future while honoring its past. Beginning with the Loews on Miami Beach, including the historic St. Moritz, they designed it to reveal the elegant Art Nouveau/Moderne style that we see today, ultimately changing the South Beach skyline forever. In addition to the Loews, the DiLido (now Ritz-Carlton South Beach), Fontainebleau and Eden Roc have all undergone a sensitive historic restoration of the original Lapidus designed buildings, with major additions designed with a contemporary/moderne style by NBWW.

Long recognized as one of the world’s leading hotel design firms, NBWW has been acclaimed for its work on luxurious five-star resorts. Over the years, NBWW has compiled an impressive list of landmark projects. Founded in 1967, the firm has been involved in the design and planning of more than three billion dollars in new construction and renovations encompassing more than 35,000 hotel rooms. They are internationally recognized for their architectural design and planning of luxury hotels and resorts, luxury spas, multi-family residential, mixed-use centers, and high-end office building and retail projects throughout the United States, Mexico, South and Central America, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas.

In Florida, they have designed the Regent Bal Harbour which was recently named to Travel + Leisure’s “It List” for one of the best new hotels in 2008, the proposed Mandarin Oriental Resort & Residences and the Waldorf Astoria Resort & Residences in Fort Lauderdale, the Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami, the landmark Westin Diplomat Hotel & Convention Center in Hollywood, the JW Marriott Hotel Miami on Brickell, the Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables, the Fairmont Turnberry Isle in Aventura, Coconut Grove’s Grand Bay Hotel, and five Ritz-Carlton’s on Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Jupiter and Naples, among many others worldwide.

Projects that NBWW is currently working on include Met 1, 2 and 3 (Miami, Florida), JW Marriott Resort and Residences at Coco Beach (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico), the Eden Roc Renaissance Beach Resort and Spa (Miami Beach, Florida), Fontainebleau (Miami Beach, Florida), “W” Hotel (Miami Beach, Florida) and Bahia Mar (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) among many others. On the West Coast, the firm has designed the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Resort and Spa in Napa Valley, California, as well as The Residences at Crystal Springs in Carbondale, Colorado.

“Architecture must relate to the human spirit and reflect its environment and social context as well as its function," says John R. Nichols, CEO and founder of NBWW. “It was an honor to be able to follow in Morris Lapidus’ footsteps and restore his historic designs while providing our own interpretations of what these hotels and their additions should look like for the 21st century and beyond.”
